Imagine.
3:57 PM

I was in business class today (this is typically the most socially interesting class of my day) when suddenly something amazing happened. A good friend of mine reminded me what really matters in this world. Music. Real music. None of this crap that's on the radio these days. When you compare music from this decade to music from the 60s and 70s and 80s, the difference is remarkable. Ofcourse it isn't a crime to enjoy the weekly top 40, but it is a sincere shame that we don't appreciate the genius that used to be known as music.

Ofcourse there still is hope. We have a new generation of amazing song writers, who are determined to bring music back from the dead. I look at John Mayer, and Taylor Swift and I see a ray of light. Their lyrics have the power to connect with people. They have the power to change somebodys mood and their perspective. I know when I hear John Mayer songs, I am taken to a new world. THAT my friends is music. Being taken into a new dimension, being taken to a new emotion... THAT is what the world needs.

So back to business class... my friend and I were going through his cellphone, looking at his song list and sharing stories about every single song. How many top 40 songs have changed your life? Probably not many. But looking through lists of Elvis Costello, John Lennon, The Beatles, Blondie, Elton John, Elvis Presley, Bette Midler & all the greats... we managed to spend the entire class talking about how these legends changed our lives. From the first line of "Imagine" to the beautiful chorus of "Good Year for the Roses" and the soothing lyrics of "Unchained Melody" we were taken to another world.

THAT is the music I want to hear. The music that has the power to break your heart with one single note. Music should never be a hobby. Music... music is everything.

"You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope someday you'll join us, and the world will be as one..."

Just imagine.

Blessings,
Bridget
